How does the Flow Right UV water purification system work?

There are four basic components that make up the UV filtration system: a UV reactor chamber, UV lamp (or bulb), the UV quartz sleeve, and UV controller unit. 

UV Reactor Chamber

The reactor chamber is responsible for controlling the flow of water through the purification system. The cylindrical chamber contains two other pieces of the system: the quartz sleeve and lamp. Flow Right reactor chambers are made of stainless steel so that you get a product that works and looks great!

UV Lamp

UVC is an FDA approved disinfectant individuals and companies can use to clean air, water, and nonporous surfaces. The UV lamp creates electrical currents that produce UVC, which is how the system purifies your household water and makes it safe to drink.

UV Quartz Sleeve

The function of the quartz sleeve is to protect the UV lamp. Since the UV lamp is powered by electricity, the sleeve acts as a protective barrier from potential temperature fluctuations and breakage. The sleeve is made of quartz glass and must be cleaned when the lamp is changed. 

UV Controller Unit

The controller unit is responsible for monitoring the electrical output of the UV lamp. Without the controller unit, the UV system could not power the UV light necessary to produce fresh water. The complexity of your controller unit will depend on the manufacturer you choose.

What is the difference between UV Purification and Chlorination?

We’ve been hearing some talk that favors chlorination over UV water purification as the best method for whole house water filtration. As an authority on the subject, we want to clear this up. (The same way a UV purifier will clear up your water!)

Chlorination is a process that disinfects water by simply adding chlorine to it. There are a few problems that you may encounter by choosing this form of water filtration. 

• Chlorine adds a bad taste and smell to your water. The UV purification process keeps your water tasting and smelling great!
• A byproduct of chlorination is Trihalomethanes (THMs). There are many health risks associated with the consumption of THMs, including skin cancers and miscarriage. By contrast, UV water purification produces no harmful byproducts. 
• The maintenance of a chlorination water treatment system is far more intensive than the upkeep of a UV water purifier. UV disinfection is low maintenance. All we ask is that you change the system light bulb once a year!
• Some people have sensitivities to chlorine, making its use less common.

UV Water Purification Does Not Eliminate Perfluorinated Substances (PFAs)
